HOW TO ARRANGE FOR TYEL INSURANCE
Pension coverage for an employee must be arranged at the latest during the month following the first month of payment of wages. Delayed insurance results in increased insurance contributions for the retrospective period.
An employer must make a TyEL insurance agreement (contract employer) if
- the employer keeps at least one employee hired constantly or
- the six-month payroll is at least 7,746 euro (2012).
If you employ at least one permanent employee, fill in an insurance application and an employment notice for your employees. You can take out an insurance policy at your nearest Ilmarinen partner office (OP Pohjola Group, A-Vakuutus or Pohjantähti branch). You can also fill out the application online.

A self-employed person's YEL insurance policy must be taken out within six months of beginning.
