Insuring a household employee
Private households are also required to take out pension insurance for their employees such as carpenters, decorators or cleaners, if they are acting as employers.
A household is obligated to take out an insurance contract or act as a temporary employer depending on the terms of the employment contract and the level of the wages paid.
An employer is obliged to take out an insurance contract, if he/she has
- at least one permanent employee or
- temporary employees whose six-month payroll amounts to more than 7,386 euro.
A household acts as a temporary employer if
- it has no permanent employees and
- the payroll of six consecutive months is less than 7,386 euro.
