WHO WILL BE REHABILITATED?

Ilmarinen can provide support for the vocational rehabilitation of self-employed persons or employees in its client companies who are still at work. A prerequisite is that the applicant is at risk of becoming disabled due to illness which, without a change of job or profession, would lead to the person retiring on a disability pension in the next few years. Another requirement is that the applicant must have a vocation and has accrued employment pension security for a reasonable length of time, and that less than a year has elapsed since the termination of his or her last employment relationship.

In addition, assessments will be made whether the rehabilitation would help to postpone or prevent the applicant’s disability and to cut pension expenditure. The implementation of the rehabilitation plan must result in a job or profession that is better suited to the applicant and allows him or her to stay on at work despite limitations brought on by the applicant’s state of health.

Ilmarinen can also support the vocational rehabilitation of a recipient of a cash rehabilitation benefit, if it promotes the person’s return to work. In this case the aim of rehabilitation is that the rehabilitee returns to gainful employment when the rehabilitation benefit stops.
