The Act on Employment Pension Insurance Companies specifies that earnings-related pension companies must have a Supervisory Board. Ilmarinen’s Supervisory Board is responsible for supervising the corporate governance actions undertaken by the company’s Board of Directors and President and CEO. The Supervisory Board elects the members of the Board of Directors and the Nomination Committee and decides on the members’ fees and compensation for travel costs. The Annual General Meeting elects 30 members to the Supervisory Board for a term of three years.

The Supervisory Board is responsible for supervising the corporate governance actions undertaken by the company’s Board of Directors and President and CEO. The Supervisory Board also implements this supervisory role by selecting the necessary number of members at a time to familiarise themselves with the company’s investment and pension operations. The objective of the supervision is also to present the opinions of the Supervisory Board members, deepen the interaction between the persons responsible for Ilmarinen’s investment and pension decision operations and the Supervisory Board and to relay information from one party to the other. The supervisors of the pension decision operations met three times in 2018 and the supervisors of investment operations met three times.
