- You are a courier for at least 4 months in a row
- Your YEL income is at least 9,208.43 euros per year (approximately 770 euros per month)
- You live in Finland

Determining your YEL income as a delivery partner
YEL income is the value of your work. For delivery partners, this generally corresponds to your revenue. Your pension, social security benefits and YEL payments will be calculated based on your YEL income. In our YEL income calculator, you are asked to choose a business sector that best describes your entrepreneurial activities. If your entrepreneurial activity consists solely of delivering food, select 53200 - Other postal and courier activities as your sector.
What are the benefits of YEL insurance
YEL generates your pension
As a delivery partner, you take care of your own pension coverage. Your YEL insurance accumulates your pension from the work you do as a delivery partner, just like working as an employee would.
YEL gives you unemployment security
If your business ends or you no longer work in your company for another reason, you can receive unemployment benefits. If you are a member of the unemployment fund for entrepreneurs, Yrittäjäkassa, you can receive a benefit based on your YEL income. If you are not a member of Yrittäjäkassa, you can receive an unemployment benefit paid by Kela.
YEL gives you security in case of sickness
If you get sick, you can apply to Kela for an allowance. You will start receiving it after you have been sick for one day. The size of the allowance depends on your YEL income. In order to buy a self-employed persons’ accident insurance, you have to have a YEL insurance.
YEL secures your family leaves
As a self-employed person, you can take time off work to stay at home with your children just like employees. Your parental allowance is based on your YEL income. You can apply to Kela for parental allowance.
