Ilmarinen’s partner network’s career coaches are there to support you

When you need help in drawing up a rehabilitation plan, our partner network’s career coaches are there for you. The career coach will support you in planning a new career path. The objective is for you to return to working life, in a job that is suitable for your state of health.

Help for returning to work from a career coach

The career coaches will help you draw up your rehabilitation plan. They are specialised in career planning and vocational guidance. They will help you plan your return to work, regardless of which part of Finland you live in.

What does a career coach do?

The career coaches will help you

  • find a career path that is suitable for you and your state of health
  • reflect on what kinds of jobs and professions suit you
  • find a work trial place
  • find out what you could study to be able to return to working life.

Your career coach is a link to Ilmarinen. The career coach is in contact with your rehabilitation specialist at Ilmarinen during the planning process and makes a proposal on a rehabilitation plan that you have drawn up together.

How can I get a personal career coach?

If you need help from a career coach, contact your rehabilitation specialist at Ilmarinen. You can find the contact details for your rehabilitation specialist in the preliminary vocational rehabilitation decision you have received. The preliminary decision is available in Ilmarinen’s MyPension service under ‘My documents’.

You can also indicate the need for a career coach by filling in the rehabilitation plan form in MyPension. In this case, select the following section of the form: I need help making a rehabilitation plan.

Once you and your rehabilitation specialist have agreed that you will receive guidance from a career coach, a coach will contact you within approximately one week to agree on your first meeting.

How does co-operation with a career coach proceed?

Your first meeting is an initial exploration, with the career coach looking into your situation, expectations, wishes and goals. You will discuss your professional competence, educational background, work experience and state of health and the factors that limit your working. You will talk about your professional areas of interest and review the opportunities of vocational rehabilitation.

Costs and income

The meetings with your career coach are free of charge for you. If you incur travel costs due to the meetings, we will provide you with compensation for them. Read more about applying for travel compensation

While you are creating a rehabilitation plan with your career coach, your income can consist of your salary, a daily sickness allowance, unemployment allowance or the cash rehabilitation benefit, i.e. a fixed-term disability pension. You will receive rehabilitation allowance from us only once your work trial or studies start.
