Why does the price go down?

The price of the TyEL fee is decreasing because we have improved our operations year by year. Making operations more efficient means that we have reduced costs to cover Ilmarinen's day-to-day operations.

Ilmarinen has reduced the costs of managing pension insurance by a third, or nearly EUR 50 million, since 2018. This makes our customers' TyEL fee even more affordable in terms of admistrative costs.

What is the administrative cost?

The admistrative cost is the part of the earnings-related pension payment that covers the costs of the pension company. This means that the more cost-effectively we operate, the lower our admistrative costs and, consequently, our customers' insurance premiums. It is good to note that the admistrative cost is a small proportion, i.e. about 0.02-0.18% of the TyEL fee. For example, if the salary and wages are €30,000 a year, the administrative cost will be €22 in 2026 (€54 in 2025). 

The new admistrative cost will come into effect in January 2026. From the table next to you can already estimate how much the discount will be.

The decreasing admistrative cost affects a large proportion of Ilmarinen's customers. For our smallest employer customers, the cost of care decreases the most.
