Ilmarinen and MYRY start cooperation – aim is to better support and secure micro and solo entrepreneurs

The cooperation strengthens the position of both parties and brings concrete benefits to micro and solo entrepreneurs all over Finland.

Ilmarinen, an earnings-related pension company, and the Association of Micro- and Solo Entrepreneurs (MYRY) have launched a cooperation aimed at developing advice and services for micro and solo entrepreneurs. The cooperation brings together the market leader in the earnings-related pension sector and Finland's national micro entrepreneur organisation.

- It has been a pleasure to follow the impressive work of MYRY for small entrepreneurs in recent years. They have personally helped numerous entrepreneurs. The partnership helps us to deepen our understanding of the needs of micro and solo entrepreneurs and opens up growth opportunities for us. We want to be the number one choice when entrepreneurs and micro enterprises are thinking about earnings-related pension issues. I look forward to what we will achieve together with MYRY to make everyday life easier for entrepreneurs," says Director Minna Hakkarainen from Ilmarinen.

- Micro enterprises are important to Finland's success. There are a huge number of them and their subsistence, work ability and pension security are the most vulnerable. We want a partner who understands micro entrepreneurs, knows their reality, and works together to develop better services for them. With Ilmarinen, we get to do just that: improve services and influence them, directly support the everyday lives of entrepreneurs, and change attitudes and trust towards small entrepreneurs and the pension system, says MYRY's Executive Director Liisa Hanén.

Collaboration is visible to micro- and solo entrepreneurs in concrete terms

MYRY and Ilmarinen combine forces in both communications and training. The MYRY website provides information on Ilmarinen's services and entrepreneurs can learn more about them by browsing to Ilmarinen's online services.

- Ilmarinen's research shows that entrepreneurs are a very diverse group with a lot of emotions, excitement, enthusiasm and different kinds of fears associated with their daily lives. By utilizing and combining Ilmarinen's and MYRY's expertise, we can offer even better solutions and services and help entrepreneurs focus on their own operations, the parties say.

The cooperation provides entrepreneurs with up-to-date information on, for example, the YEL reform, work ability and pension cover. Both share the view that the YEL system needs to be reformed to be more transparent, clear and based on earned income. In addition, a funding model should be built to secure the long-term financing of pensions.

70,000 entrepreneurs and 40,000 micro-enterprises have chosen Ilmarinen as their pension company

Entrepreneurs receive individual support from Ilmarinen in matters related to YEL insurance, their own pension cover, work ability and vocational rehabilitation. Popular webinars provide useful information. For example, the December webinar provides information on YEL reform. A person going to work abroad receives excellent expert help in arranging social security.

It is easy to do business at Ilmarinen's online service. For example, you can apply for an interest-bearing payment period for YEL payments online for several months or take advantage of expert online courses. There is a wide range of courses on topics such as musculoskeletal health and mental health challenges. In Ilmarinen, YEL insurance income reviews are carried out in a customer-oriented manner, and the accuracy of income decisions is at an excellent level. It is easy to follow your own pension accrual in the MyPension service.

If an entrepreneur hires employees for their company, they will receive a competitive price for their TyEL insurance (annual discounts and administrative cost) from Ilmarinen. In the Palkka.fi service, you can pay Ilmarinen's TyEL fees and at the same time easily take care of the employer's obligations such as notifications from the authorities.
