Positive preliminary decision on vocational rehabilitation

When you have received a positive preliminary decision on vocational rehabilitation from us, you can begin planning your rehabilitation.

Preliminary decision

Based on your application, you will receive from us a preliminary decision on your right to vocational rehabilitation.

Start planning your rehabilitation straight away after receiving the decision. Write your ideas into a rehabilitation plan and send it to us during the period of validity of the preliminary decision. The preliminary decision is valid for approximately ten months.

If you need help in drawing up the plan, contact us; we will be glad to help you.

You can find the preliminary decision in our MyPension service under ‘My documents’.

The preliminary decision also contains an estimate of your rehabilitation allowance, i.e. the financial support that you will receive from us during vocational rehabilitation. Read more about the rehabilitation allowance.

If you have applied for a disability pension

If you have applied for a disability pension from us, we will assess whether you would also benefit from vocational rehabilitation. Vocational rehabilitation measures take precedence over disability pensions.

When processing your disability pension application, we may come to the conclusion that you would benefit from vocational rehabilitation. In that case, you will receive a preliminary decision on vocational rehabilitation without applying for it yourself.

A rehabilitation specialist to support you

We will gladly assist you in all matters related to vocational rehabilitation. You can find the contact details of your dedicated rehabilitation specialist in the preliminary vocational rehabilitation decision you have received. The decision is available in our MyPension service under your documents. Contact your rehabilitation specialist – he or she will help you get started with vocational rehabilitation and assist you every step of the way.

Our customer service will also provide you with advice on how to apply for rehabilitation, the available options and how to initiate planning.

If you receive a negative decision

If the decision you have received is negative, take a look at the other options.

If you cannot be granted vocational rehabilitation provided by an authorised pension provider, you can apply for vocational rehabilitation from Kela. Read more about Kela's vocational rehabilitation (kela.fi).
